Support Groups

 

Across the country, thousands of trained NAMI volunteers bring peer-led programs to a wide variety of community settings, from churches to schools to NAMI Lexington and Participation Station. With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, these programs and support groups provide outstanding free education, skills training, and support.

Schizophrenia Alliance Support Group

This group is a nation­al­ly rec­og­nized 6‑step pro­gram for indi­vid­u­als deal­ing with Schiz­o­phre­nia, Psy­chosis, Schizoaf­fec­tive D/O, and oth­er relat­ed dis­or­ders. The group will typ­i­cal­ly run 60–90 min­utes and fol­low the guid­ance of the “Blue Book” which was devel­oped by Joanne Ver­ban­ic, the founder of Schiz­o­phre­nia Anonymous.

Young Adult Support Group

The NAMI Young Adult Group offers sup­port, infor­ma­tion, and fel­low­ship to young adults, ages 18–35, expe­ri­enc­ing men­tal health con­cerns. The group meets on the third Tues­day of each month via Zoom video con­fer­ence and occa­sion­al­ly for com­mu­ni­ty social out­ings. To be noti­fied of month­ly meet­ings please email Tra­cy at tracynamilex@gmail.com and your email will be placed on the group list­serv to receive month­ly group notifications.

Double Trouble in Recovery

Dou­ble Trou­ble in Recov­ery (DTR) is an inde­pen­dent, Twelve Step fel­low­ship of indi­vid­u­als who share their expe­ri­ence, strength, and hope with each oth­er so that they may solve their com­mon prob­lems and help oth­ers to recov­er from their par­tic­u­lar addiction(s) and man­age their men­tal disorder(s).
